문손잡이부터 몸집이 큰 가구에 이르기까지, Hallgeir Homstvedt은 사용자의 호기심을 자극하는 다양한 물건을 고안하는 발명가다. 엔지니어 출신의 아버지와 의복 제작자 어머니에게서 자란 그는 호주 뉴캐슬 대학교에서 산업 디자인 학위를 취득한 뒤, 고향으로 돌아와 디자인 집단 Norway Says에 합류했다. 2009년에는 오슬로 중심가의 19세기 공장 건물에 자신의 스튜디오를 설립하고 가구, 인테리어 및 제품 디자인에 걸친 작업 포트폴리오를 쌓아왔다. 제품의 본질에 도달하기 위해 단순함으로 회귀하는 그의 디자인 철학은 위트 넘치는 제품 개발의 원동력이 되고 있다.

COLUNA VASE

The Coluna Vases are a set of hand thrown vases, where the strict geometric vessels juxtaposes the character of the textured clay. Hallgeir Homstvedt approached the design of the Coluna Vases from a functional starting point and created two different volumes for medium sized bouquets or larger assemblies with shorter stems.

NIU SOFA

Niu 소파는 둥지처럼 높은 벽으로 주변을 차단한 소파다. 푹신한 쿠션으로 채워진 내부는 넉넉한 깊이를 공유할 수 있는 안락한 공간을 만들어낸다. 팔걸이와 등받이는 옵션 선택이 가능하며, 모듈 추가 및 다양한 결합 방식으로 코너 소파는 물론 싱글 데이베드로 변형이 가능하다.

Herman 시계는 흑백 선의 그래픽 그림을 통해 12개 구역의 디스플레이를 설정한다. 시계의 깊은 프레임은 입체적인 가시감을 만들며 낮 동안 일광 충전된 흰색 선이 어둠 속에서 빛나는 화면을 만든다. 견고한 주철 본체의 특성이 더해져 램프를 보는 듯한 매력을 발산한다.

The Knut series draws inspiration from the most elementary process in weaving, the actual binding of the vertical and horizontal threads. The pattern is a tight and precise grid, drawn in saturated colors.

Knut 시리즈는 직조의 가장 기본적인 과정인 수직실과 수평실의 바인딩에서 모티프한 담요다. 촘촘하고 정밀한 격자무늬 패턴을 특징으로 필드 그린, 코발트블루, 토프, 라임, 도브 그레이 등 채도가 높은 다채로운 컬러로 구성된다.

The vases are handcrafted by master ceramicist João Lourenço using Pasta Grés Chamotada - he experimented by mixing different grain sizes to create a coarse clay that resembles rammed earth. João, driven by his passion for this craft, has explored throughout the years different ceramic pastes, oven temperatures and firing techniques, allowing him to create a unique material with rich earth tones and a granular surface.

“As we considered existing upholstered furniture and examined the lifespan of each product through the lens of sustainability, this decoupling revealed a more forward thinking design that we had originally imagined. The inspiration for the Ami series sprang from our desire to explore the reduction of the archetypal lounge chair to its component parts – the frame and the upholstery”

PAL & PAL BARSTOOL

Half&Half is a bold and iconic lighting collection for Roll & Hill that represents the first collaboration between our studio and the American designer Jonah Takagi. The play between the geometric shapes was the starting point for this design. Half & Half is in many ways the archetype of a pendant lamp.

Balance 꽃병 세트는 다양한 모양과 현대적인 컬러를 가미한 제품이다. 꽃병과 트레이를 믹스한 디자인이 특징이며, 숨겨진 자석이 꽃병과 트레이를 강력하게 지지해 수직 위치에 고정할 수 있도록 돕는다. 꽃병은 유색 점토로 주조되고 트레이는 단단한 강철로 만들어진다.

Molto is a sofa system that offers many creative options and solutions. Molto is adapted to smaller, intimate meeting situations with an optional built-in table that houses an electric outlet. As the name suggests Molto is a sofa with numerous of opportunities and highly adaptable to many situations; 1,2, & 3 seaters with a high or low back are just the basic models.

BISLETT
Materials. 100% Norwegian lambs wool

Inspiration for this collection comes from the Moiré phenomenon. A visual effect that accurse when two patters with for example stripes are layered on top of each other, and a feeling of movement appears. The stripes and the movements in the design gives associations to the lines and the speed found on an athletics track.

GLOW CLOCK
for LEXON
이 시계의 이름은 흰색 다이얼에 반사되는 시계바늘과 빛의 대비에서 유래됐다. 바늘은 시간을 읽기 쉽도록 두께와 빛의 길이에 미묘한 디테일을 가미했다. 투명해서 눈에 띄지 않는 화면이 프레임과 같은 높이에 위치하여 시계를 감싸안고 보호하는 역할을 한다.

The name derives from the glow created by the contrasting color behind the hands that reflect onto the white dial of the clock. The hands of the clock have slight variation in thickness and the length of the glow in order make it easier to read time. A clear and almost invisible screen sits flush with the frame to seal and protect clock.

Duo 소파 한 쌍은 다양한 상황에 적합한 최적의 솔루션이다. 측면을 접으면 개방형 라운지가 되고 열면 회의나 휴식을 위한 조용한 공간이 조성할 수 있다. Hallgeir Homstvedt와 Norway Says가 공동으로 제작한 소파는 2000년대 중반 노르웨이 가구 디자인이 국제적으로 인정받는 데 핵심적인 기여를 했다.

Hjelle
Kavai is a small lounge chair designed for lobbies, waiting areas or anywhere else one appreciates a good armchair but don't have too much space. The chair has a distinct profile, with a slender body and a generous armrest sweeping the top edge, much like a collar on a shirt.

Utopia 3.0: Hands to Work는 지루하고 부담스러운 일로 이해되는 '가사(housework)'를 주제로 한 전시다. 빨래, 설거지, 분리수거 등 물건을 제자리로 돌려놓기 위해 전용 바스켓은 필수적이다. 코르크 소재의 자연스러운 느낌과 특성을 살려 제작한 페이퍼 빈은 나무 스플라인을 통해 완벽한 둥근 모양을 구현한 제품이다

Penne 꽃병과 Flip Flop 캐비닛은 노르웨이 x 뉴욕 전시회에 등장한 두 가지 제품으로 구성된다. 펜네 꽃병은 일상과 친숙한 요소의 실루엣에 기반해 압출 세라믹 공정으로 완성된 인테리어 오브제다. 플리플롭 캐비닛은 Børge Morgensen의 나무 가구에서 영감을 받아 제작된 모던한 무드의 수납 시스템이다.

When designing the Ami Collection (2021), Jonah Takagi and Hallgeir Homstvedt challenged themselves to create something that will never be thrown away. They succeeded by ensuring that the components – frame, cushions, and slipcovers – can be individually removed, refurbished, and repaired. Ami, which means “much loved” in Indian, is furniture you can love forever.
