키클라데스(Cyclades)제도의 작은 섬 안티파로스(Antiparos) 해안에 자리한 파티티리 하우스(Patitiri House)는 시간의 층위를 고스란히 품은 건축물이다. 그리스어로 ‘와인프레스’를 뜻하는 이 공간은 1933년부터 1936년 사이에 지어진 석조 구조로, 한때 섬 주민들이 포도를 맨발로 밟아 즙을 내고 발효를 시작하던 공동의 노동과 축제의 장소였다. 바다에서 발견된 고대 유적의 흔적은 이 지역이 고대부터 포도 재배와 양조의 땅이었음을 증명하며, 파티티리 하우스는 섬의 기억이 응축된 하나의 그릇처럼 남아 있다.

ARP(Architecture Research Practice 이하 ARP)는 파티티리 하우스를 해변에 마주한 휴양지로 리뉴얼하기로 결정하였고, 섬의 풍경 속에서 차지하는 랜드마크적 위상과 주민들의 기억을 존중하여 단순한 개조의 대상이 아닌 복원의 공간으로 기획하였다.

Patitiri, which translates to "winepress" in Greek, is a historic stone building constructed between 1933 and 1936 on the shore of Antiparos, a small island in the Cyclades. People would gather here to practice the traditional wine-making process of grape stomping —stepping barefoot on grapes placed in vats to release their juices and begin fermentation. Ancient traces found in the sea reveal that people have been growing vines in this area since antiquity. Over time, through various changes in ownership, Patitiri has transformed into a beautiful beachfront getaway. Our first important decision was to respect the building's idiosyncratic character and treat it as a restoration project, despite its lack of official heritage listing. We maintained the exterior intact, restoring and regrouting the exposed stone walls where necessary. We have begun a renewal of our new resort while respecting nature as much as possible.
